Don`t know about you folks, but I can`t stand a headache!

Never mind it`s about little or unbearable pain, I hate when I am that kind of station.

I'm pretty sure that all of you, once for a while have a problem with a headache.

Then, we all get some tablets to get rid of the pain.

But, soon or a later, especially when we suffer from a headache frequently, we all wonder, what is the reason for a headache.

There are many possible reasons for headaches, like a migraine, dehydration, stress, some diseases, etc.

But, also some things from our home environment like as low humidity, cause us a headache.


The definition says that humidity is the amount of water vapor in the air.

The level of humidity in the air can influence the comfort of your home and your general health.

It should be a priority for every homeowner to manage ideal indoor moisture.

It's essential for you to obtain the right level of moisture in your indoor home environment.

During winter the average humidity at your house should be lower than 40%, and in the summer months, it should be between 35-45 percents.

To prevent some problems stay in the proper ranges.


A headache is an often condition that induces discomfort and aches in the head, neck or scalp.

A headache can be gentle, but more often, can prolong intense pain that aggravates daily activities.

But guess what?! Most headaches can be controlled with medication and changes in lifestyle.

They last up to five minutes but appear without warning.

When your head is pounding, you want it to stop. Right?

Not sure about you, but when I suffer from a headache, I instantly take some pill.

Then I'm wondering, couldn't I do something else instead? In the end, if it doesn`t work, we can always take a pill.

So, there isn`t an exact answer, both (humidifier and medicaments) may or may not help with a headache.

For example, if your interior air is too dry and that is the reason for your headache, a better choice is to get a humidifier.

If the air in your bedroom is too dry, your throat and sinuses will desiccate, and that is a perfect recipe for disturbed sleep.

Sleep quality and enough! Because not getting your nightly minimum can lead to chronic headaches.

You may take some pill, and you would be better for sure, but the air would stay the same - too dry. It`s probably that a headache will come back soon.

The medication can`t make dry air moisture, but the humidifier can.

In that case, my recommendation is a humidifier instead of pills.

Problems with sleep may produce stress which is the most commonly reported trigger for a tension headache, not only from work and for moms especially when taking care of your kids.

Usually, sufficient and quality sleep will help reduce the intensity of these types of headaches and eventually fade away if high sleep quality is consistent.

Humidifiers do help a lot because they provide an optimally moist environment for your bedroom for you to breathe in and that's important for quality sleep, as we know.

For headaches like rebound headaches, humidifiers might not be a useful tool as these types of headaches are mainly caused by the frequent dosage of drugs such as caffeine.


Having medication might only serve as a temporary solution as the effectiveness of the drug will weaken when you consume on a frequent basis.


Best way to deal with these kinds of headaches is to cycle your drug intake so that you will able to tolerate the withdrawal effects and keeps the effectiveness of drug strong at the same time.

In this case, it would be caffeine (which happens to most of the people suffering from rebound headaches)
Also, you should consider some other preventive measures other than medicament and humidifier. I will mention some of them, and they may be helpful for you.

Massage therapy may help minimise chronic pain as well as ease muscle tension that causes headaches.

All the same, if you`re living in the place with a scorching climate or it`s winter time, you should consider buying a humidifier.

On the other side, if your indoor air usually is humid, and you still have headaches, try it with some analgesic. In this case, it`s not recommended to use a humidifier because they will make air to much humid.

Higher relative indoor humidity levels cause some other problems.

Overmuch moisture in the room can turn it to molds and flare throughout the house.

These mold conditions can be the reason for secondary infection.


You already know that having the appropriate humidity levels in your home is vital for your health.

Now, we will review some other advice for increasing humidity in your home.

You can always take a pill, but my advice is to acquire a humidifier.
