A cup of freshly brewed coffee would be nice! (laughing) Kidding aside, Las Vegas is the largest city in Nevada. Nevada is actually the driest state in the US because of the surrounding deserts.

Las Vegas lies in the Mojave Desert with high mountain ranges on all sides. These rocky mountain peaks serve as natural walls that block the flow of moisture from containing the areas thus, the reason why we have an arid climate.

Safe to say, we have a subtropical hot desert type of climate with long, blistering summers and short, cool winters.

Our average daily high temperatures stretch to 105°F (or 40.6°C) in the height of the summer. We have almost 310 sunny days in a year while the average low temperatures in the height of the winter drop to a cool 38°F (or3.3°C). We also have an approximate of 26 rainy days annually with 4.2" (or 106.7mm) of rainfall.

Well, our summer begins on June all the way through August with July as the hottest month. We’re on the last leg of spring this May and approaching summer soon.

Check out this weather data:

Average Temperatures for Las Vegas

December is the coldest month with an average temperature overnight of 36.6°F. But, we don't have a freezing winter like in other states.

So with these data you have shown, you’re telling me that Las Vegas needs a humidifier?

Brittany C Meyer

Brittany C. Meyer

Meteorologist

Yup. We sure need humidifiers here! (laughing). I think your readers are all well acquainted with how humidifiers work, right?

Because of our dry and dull air, locals endure dry skin and eyes throughout the summer season along with blocked nasal passages. It’s also the worst time for allergies to trigger due to hot weather and dry, sticky skin.

Traveling to Vegas during the summer season demands total hydration. You need to replenish your body by drinking lots of water and if possible, use a humidifier at home. You can tolerate and endure this weather by installing home humidifiers or using portable ones.

Leona Maurer

That is why apart from having a humidifier, sunscreen is my next go-to thing! (laughing). Talking about humidifiers, what type works best for Las Vegas?

Brittany C Meyer

Brittany C. Meyer

Meteorologist

(Laughing) I totally agree with you! I also bring sunscreen with all the time. Perhaps, we might have gotten used to the heat but humidifiers have played a great role in balancing air moisture.

But before we go deeper on the kinds of humidifiers you can use, I’ll explain first the average humidity in Vegas so we can talk about the excellent types of humidifiers you can use for Las Vegas.

Average Yearly Humidity in the cities of Nevada

Our daily humidity is at 30% where mornings goes up to 39% and afternoons at 20%. In terms of its highest and lowest rates, this chart below shows the maximum and minimum humidity levels. Las Vegas humidity peaks at 39.6 and slides at 20.3 minimum.

Minimum and Maximum humidity in Las Vegas

Now like what you asked Leona, there are different types of humidifier you can use in Las Vegas. I recommend using a cool-mist, evaporative, and an ultrasonic humidifier. Since we really don’t have a freezing winter here, warm-mist humidifiers are not really needed.

But, if you are prone to sickness and allergies during winter or cold season, you opt for a hybrid humidifier that has both a cool and warm mist.

Do you have certain specifications for the type of humidifier? Let’s say what about the filter type?

Brittany C Meyer

By the way, could you tell me about what kind of water hardness we have in Vegas?

Brittany C Meyer

Brittany C. Meyer

Well, we pretty much have hard water here in Vegas and tap water has a lot of dissolved minerals that can go through the air. Which is why I suggested using humidifiers with filters to help mitigate these elements from spreading into the air and cause more serious illnesses.

Best Humidifiers for Las Vegas  (Recommended By Experienced Meteorologist!)

top 3 best humidifiers for las vegas

Now that we are clear with what to expect with Las Vegas weather, let’s now move on to see what the best humidifier to use in this kind of weather.

According to our expert, we can use a cool-mist humidifier, evaporative, ultrasonic, and hybrid, actually, almost all types of humidifiers.

But, since we are approaching the summer season, cool-mist humidifiers are more welcome. Brittany gave me a list of the recommended humidifier types you can use in Vegas.

#1 Recommended Choice

(Ultrasonic Type):

Homasy Cool Mist Humidifier

Homasy Cool Mist Humidifier

Specific Features (Click here to know more)

The Homasy ultrasonic cool mist humidifier perfectly meets design and function based on your needs. It has a smart Indicator Light to let you know that the device is working properly.

A green light indicates a well-functioning humidifier and the color red indicates low water level. It shuts off automatically when there the water is at a critical level.

You can customize the mist control by adjusting the dial knob design accurately and effortlessly. What I like about this humidifier is the activated charcoal filter which traps all impurities that can blend with the air to guarantee that the produced moist is ultra-clean.

Breathing is more soft with its nano water molecules that penetrate into your skin keeping it moist, soft, and smooth. Truly it stands by its feature of ‘forest-like’ breathing.

The only thing I find challenging with this product is the maintenance and water refilling part. Like most other humidifiers, you need to refill it upside down.

It also seems pretty weird cleaning the tank because you need a brush to clean the inside parts. Unlike the others where I can put my hands inside and scrub it with a soft sponge, this humidifier has a tiny water opening, roughly about 2 inches in diameter.

Nonetheless, this is one of the cutting-edge humidifiers you can find in the market.

#2 Recommended Choice

(Hybrid-Cool/Warm Mist Type):

TaoTronics AH007 Cool Mist

Humidifier

TaoTronics TT-AH007 Warm & Cool Mist Ultrasonic Air Humidifier

Specific Features (Click here to know more)

The modern and sleek design of TaoTronics TT-AH007 is ideal for stylish homes and even offices. Its size is excellent for small areas like the bedroom, study room, or the office.

It functions both warm and cool mist according to what the weather calls for. To know the exact humidifier function, you can take advantage of its accurate humidity sensor and adjust at any time.

You can achieve humidity level quicker by 20% when using the warm mist function than most cool mist technology.

This humidifier is great in reducing constant static electricity caused by dry weather. TaoTronics comes with a memory function. Like, when the unit is off yet the power is still connected, it will revert to the previous setting when you turn it back on.

The display keys are pretty straightforward and easy to operate. It also has a built-in filter attached to its cap.

Perhaps the only downside I see in this brand is the water refilling process. Although refilling is a breeze, it seems pretty awkward that you have to turn it upside down and carry through.

#3 Recommended Choice

(Evaporative Type):

Honeywell HCM 350 Cool Mist

Humidifier

Honeywell HCM350W Germ-Free Cool Mist Humidifier

Specific Features (Click here to know more)

Honeywell brand is known for its premium quality appliances. Its HCM350W humidifier features a cool-mist evaporative type which uses UV technology to kill germs, mold, and fungus.

The water inside the tank goes into the UV and wicking system first so all bacteria can be killed before moisture is emitted into the air. Once you turn on the device, the water then goes to the filter and into the air.

Using an evaporative type of humidifier assures you that you cannot over-humidify your room because you can't increase more air moisture than it can hold.

This particular model has an easy to carry design which helps you handle it efficiently and conveniently. It is also easy to refill and clean.

Filter change is necessary based on how frequent you use this device. The best part is, you can use universal filters on this brand as long as it matches the model number.

Noise is quite an issue with this evaporative humidifier if you have been used to ultrasonic ones. Although noise levels are tolerable, some people find it disturbing.

Next concern, is the fan blade maintenance which makes it difficult to clean with because you cannot reach the edges.

Apart from these, the aesthetic design is quite large and bulky but nonetheless a great humidifier to use.

It's ideal for medium or large rooms(living rooms) and spaces!

Water Considerations in Las Vegas

wate considerations in las vegas

We know that hard water can cause a lot of household inconvenience and quite challenging to resolve. The hardness of Las Vegas water is at 283 ppm (parts per million) or 16.5 grains per gallon and is therefore categorized as very hard.

This is why water softeners are very popular in this area to minimize hardness and reduce the chances of damages in home furniture and fixture.

You may consider purchasing humidifiers with a filter so that the dissolved minerals are trapped and may not contaminate the air. Or, you can soften the water first before using it on your humidifier.

Simple boiling or installing water softeners, and even using water softener tablets would greatly improve water quality.

Conclusion

So there you have it guys from Las Vegas! You now have the solution to what is the best humidifier for your place.

I hope you guys can now decide which humidifier type you can use to alleviate hot and dry weather. You have three humidifier options to choose from, cool-mist ultrasonic, hybrid (cool and warm mist), and evaporative cool-mist.

All these models are powerful and excellent to use, it all depends on your personal preferences. If I am to decide, maybe the hybrid type works best since you will have two functions in one device.

You no longer need to purchase another humidifier in case you need one in the winter season. Remember, a well-maintained device lasts longer, so make it a habit to clean your humidifiers as recommended by the manufacturer.
